At present, various types of oxygenators can improve water quality and increase the yield of aquatic farming. The flexible use of oxygenators helps improve water quality faster and purify the water. It also helps remove and dilute harmful substances, supports the self-purification of bottom sediment, balances the water flow cycle, and lowers the risk of waterborne diseases. Oxygenators can speed up water convection, raise dissolved oxygen in deeper water, help break down organic matter, reduce the feed coefficient, help fish and shrimp grow faster, and reduce disease outbreaks. Water circulation also helps plankton grow and reproduce, and it boosts the pond’s primary productivity.
Impeller-type oxygenator
The impeller-type oxygenator not only oxygenates but also has the functions of stirring water and aerating. It promotes the growth and reproduction of plankton and increases the primary productivity of the pond. During use, it can form middle and upper-layer water flow, making the dissolved oxygen in the middle and upper layers of the water body uniform, suitable for pond farming and emergency equipment in ponds. However, the oxygenation area is limited to a certain range. When used for larger ponds, the oxygenation effect on the bottom water is poor, and it is prone to sucking up the pond bottom sediment, not suitable for use in ponds with shallow water levels.
Jet-type oxygenator
The jet-type oxygenator has a higher oxygenation power efficiency than waterwheel-type, air-injecting, and spray-type oxygenators. Its structure is simple, and it can form a water flow. The jet-type oxygenator can evenly oxygenate the water body. It is suitable for oxygenation in seedling ponds.
The aeration tubes of the air-injecting oxygenator mostly use nanotubes, so it is also called micro-hole aeration oxygenator. It is now mostly used in factory-based farming, with multiple functions of oxygenation and bottom improvement. The upgraded micro-hole aeration oxygenator now mostly uses micro-hole nanomaterials.
Using a rotary blower to send air into the air supply pipe, the air supply pipe sends air into the micro-hole tube, and the micro-hole tube disperses the air in the form of micro-bubbles into the water. The micro-bubbles float upward from the bottom and fully dissolve in the water under the high oxygen pressure of the gas, thereby increasing the dissolved oxygen content of the water body. It can also form rotational and upward flow of the water, and the rotational flow of the water will bring the rich oxygen water at the top of the upper oxygenated water body to the bottom of the oxygen-deficient water body, while the rotational flow of the water will spread the rich oxygen water around the micro-hole tube outward, achieving uniform oxygenation of the water body.
Aeration wave-type oxygenator
The aeration wave-type oxygenator is claimed to be the latest product in aquatic farming oxygenation equipment. Its biggest advantage is energy saving. The oxygenation principle is different from the impeller-type and waterwheel-type. The unique flower-shaped spiral-shaped impeller combined with the ring-shaped float can make the output water erupt upward， creating a boiling-like water body in a certain area， thereby increasing the contact between the water body and air during the eruption process， and thus increasing the dissolved oxygen content of the water body. At the same time, when the water is spurting upwards, it directly passes through the motor and reducer, enabling the motor and reducer to work for a long time without overheating due to the cooling effect of the water.
